6th Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon South Asian Mooting Competition and Law Students
Conference, 2020-21, South Asian Round

The Sixth Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon South Asian Mooting Competition and Law Students Conference, 2020-21 is being organized by Lloyd Law College with technical support from MILAT- Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy and Training at Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

There are two stages of the competition: The India round and the South Asian round. Each country can select/nominate up to four teams to represent their country in the South Asian round. However, India can send maximum 8 teams having regard to a large number of Law Colleges in the country.

The India round of the competition was held on 6th to 8th of November, 2020 to select qualifying teams from India to participate in the South Asian round. It saw an overwhelming participation from 48 teams across India representing national law universities, central & state universities and other leading law colleges. The competition was inaugurated by the gracious hands of Hon'ble Mr. Justice V. Ramasubramaniam, Judge, Supreme Court of India. Hon'ble Mrs. Justice Sangeeta Chandra, Judge, High Court of Judicature Allahabad was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Ceremony.

The top colleges that qualified for the South Asian round were: -

1. School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be university)

2. Tamil Nadu National Law University

3. University School of Law and Legal Studies, GGSIPU

4. Sikkim Govt. Law College

5. School of Law, Sastra (Deemed to be university)

6. School of Law, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies

7. Army Institute of Law, Mohali

8. Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law.

The South Asian round will be held for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives from 19th to 21st March, 2021 via Online video Conferencing medium, ZOOM cloud meetings * from Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida, India. Teams from other institutions abroad, including those with which Lloyd Law College has academic partnerships will also participate. A conference of law students from South Asian countries will also be held along with the South Asian mooting competition from 19th to 21st March, 2021 at Lloyd Law College. The idea of the conference is to provide a forum for interaction among the law students of the South Asian region for excellence in legal education and professional development. Understanding the legal system of each other’s country will be mutually beneficial in the context of professional development, trade in legal services and law reform.
